Wind Power Systems can provide electricity whether or not you are tied to the Grid. Wind generators can be used in stand-alone systems or combined with solar panels and/or hydro power. In India bulk producers of wind power are mostly Grid Intertied. Electricity produced by wind generation can be used directly, as in water pumping applications, or it can be stored in batteries for household use when needed. Wind generators can be used alone, or they may be used as part of a hybrid system, in which their output is combined with that of photovoltaic, Hybrid systems are especially useful for winter backup of home systems where cloudy weather and windy conditions occur simultaneously. The power available from wind varies as the cube of the wind speed. If the wind speed doubles, the power of the wind (ability to do work) increases 8 times. Occasional high wind packs a lot of power into a short period of time, it is important that this occasional high wind come often enough to keep your batteries charged.
Wind System components include Wind Generator, Wind controller, transformer and inverter (if applicable), must be configured to the correct system voltage.
PEnA designs include wind systems with wind turbine ratings range from 200W to 10,000W with different system voltage 12, 24, 48 V DC etc. are generally factory set and same is the case with the wind controller.
Battery Bank Size is recommended based in the system voltage and back up required. Generally for 3000W, 48 V wind generator battery bank with a minimum of 400 Amp-hours of capacity, and 3000W 24 volt Wind generator with controller should have battery bank with a minimum of 800 amp-hours of capacity.
The wind turbines are mounted on secured tower of height as designed for particular location it varies from place to pace. Wind Generator is designed to fit on a 5-inch schedule 40 steel pipes. The minimum recommended tower height is 7 meters (20 feet) above trees or obstacles within 100m (300ft). The highest point on your property is generally best location to site the wind generator but the distance to the batteries and the system voltage will figure in the determining the correct installation location.
Most of our customers need help sizing and designing their systems and we are happy to do this. You can also check wind resource potential for your location often available from local weather stations or airports, Check your wind here. If you have a 12 mph or 5.4Meter per sec wind speed then give us a call, so we can size a wind power system for you, Also you can have an option of grid connected to off grid configuration based on where you are located.
